Pet Safety

Updated: Aug 9, 2020

1. Keep them cool

If your pet spends time outdoors, make sure they have a shady spot to rest

and plenty of water keep them hydrated. Never leave your pet in your car

unattended. Even on a mild 80 degree day the inside of your car can heat

up to nearly 100 in mere minutes.

2. Identification

Make sure your pet has proper ID in case they get lost. Better yet, have

them microchipped just in case they lose their tags. The City of Roanoke

requires that pet dogs and cats 4 months of age or older be registered with

Animal Services.

Trophy Club does not require registration by law but they do strongly

suggest having dogs registered in their database system for free. This

allows the TCPD Animal Control Officer to reunite the pet with their owner

more quickly.

3. Keep pets on a leash

For the safety of your pet and others, keep your dog on a leash at all times

when walking. The City of Roanoke’s ordinance states that animals shall not

be at large within the city limits. The term "at-large" is defined as an animal

that is not restrained by means of a leash or chain while off the owner's

property or not confined to the premises of its owner by a containment

device or secured by a leash on said premises.

4. Vaccinations

Not only do vaccinations keep you and your family safe, they are required

by law in the state of Texas.

The City of Roanoke requires that every owner of a dog or cat 4 months

of age or older shall have the animal vaccinated against rabies and re-

vaccinated at 1 year of age and annually thereafter.
