Clara Love Elementary Namesake

Written By Cindy Chapman

Love Elementary’s namesake, Clara Helen Wilkerson Love grew up in the Justin area and began a life-long teaching career at the age of 18. From the humble beginnings of a one-room schoolhouse in Argyle, Clara Love married and raised a family while she taught in Roanoke and then returned to Justin where she taught for 20 years. Forever dedicated to learning, she obtained her master’s degree in her 50’s and even when she was forced to retire from teaching full-time she was a substitute teacher in NISD for 20 more years. A dedicated “Granny” to family, students, and community, Clara Love continues to inspire students to never stop seeking knowledge.
